Nancy Honings
After previously working 15 years as Office Administrator in the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office, Nancy Honings joined Quinn Johnston in November 2008 as Office Administrator. When Nancy learned Quinn Johnston's former Office Administrator was retiring after 23 years in the position, she told us she quickly began lobbying for the chance to work for QJHPC. "I have been here a year now and it has indeed been a pleasure to be associated with the high quality of people - partners, associates and support staff - at this superb law firm. It is obvious they care about their clients and they care about each other!"
Nancy Honings grew up in the small farming community of Mediapolis, Iowa, best known for their winning girls' high school basketball team. She quickly points out she was a cheerleader, not a basketball player, as she figured out that was far more fun and far less work than being a basketball player.
She was raised in a very close 2-parent family with 2 older brothers and a younger sister. Only her sister survives today. Her mother will always be viewed as her biggest mentor and the perfect role model for any woman. "My mother was always able to put a positive swathe over unfortunate situations and move forward to make the world a better place for others. She was the least selfish person I have ever known."
Nancy and her husband Harry have been married for 33 years and met while they were both working in the office of Pabst Brewing Company in Peoria Heights. Harry is currently the Regional Manager for Springfield Electrical Supply Company. Their only son, Damien, got married this summer to Melissa Moore. Nancy lights up at the mention of a grandchild and admits she is eager for one whenever Damien and Melissa are ready to start a family.
Nancy has been in the law profession for over 15 years and enjoys working in the professional environment. However, if she had to choose another career, she would choose teaching. "I always wanted to be a teacher and my college major was originally in teaching. But I wasn't sure I could handle some of the social problems that accompany the profession." She feels managing a law office is much easier!
